Our story

From Rio to Carlsbad—with family at the center.

Raphael and Fabiana were both born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After building their life together in Boston, they moved to San Diego and now call Carlsbad home.

Married since 2002, they created Campelo Bookkeeping to combine their professional experience with the values that have guided their family: reliability, respect, discipline, loyalty, and personal responsibility.

Today, Campelo Bookkeeping supports service-based business owners across the United States through secure cloud-based tools, with QuickBooks Online at the center of the work.

Raphael B. M. Campelo

Raphael brings years of experience working with complex financial and operational systems in the healthcare industry. He has worked as an EHR Revenue Cycle Systems Analyst specializing in Professional Billing for leading healthcare organizations including Boston Children's Hospital, Scripps Health, and UC San Diego Health, where he continues to work today.

Revenue cycle systems are highly complex and constantly evolving. His work requires strong attention to detail, the ability to solve difficult problems, and a deep understanding of how revenue flows through large organizations. His role focuses on improving financial processes, ensuring system accuracy, and supporting strategic objectives.

Before working in healthcare technology, Raphael was an auto damage appraiser, where estimating and financial evaluation strengthened his analytical skills and precision.

Raphael also began training toward a private pilot license. Although he has not completed that goal, the experience reinforced the importance of discipline, preparation, and attention to detail. Building Campelo Bookkeeping is part of creating a future with the flexibility to continue that passion.

Outside of work, Raphael is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and instructor. The principles of family, respect, loyalty, discipline, attitude, and honor guide his approach to business, relationships, and community.

Fabiana N. Campelo

Fabiana brings years of experience in organization, coordination, and attention to detail through her work at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she served as an administrative assistant supporting four oncologists.

In that fast-paced medical environment, organization, reliability, and careful coordination were essential. The physicians she supported maintained demanding schedules while caring for many patients, requiring Fabiana to keep details organized and help everything run smoothly.

A central part of her work involved helping create an environment where patients felt comfortable, supported, and confident in the care they received. That experience strengthened her ability to stay organized under pressure and build trust with the people she served.

Those same qualities now guide her work at Campelo Bookkeeping. She brings patience and personal attention to client relationships and serves as the welcoming first point of contact for new clients.

Outside of work, Fabiana enjoys spending time with her family and their Goldendoodle, Lucky, who is a big part of their daily life.
